My Personality

Independence

Ever since young, I have learned to be independent and to adapt to any new environment that I am in. Being capable of thinking and acting on my own at a young age is something that I am very proud of and thankful for. It is a much needed skill that many might not possess or could not have learned about when they are young. Therefore I am always thankful for my parents, for giving me the chance to be exposed to all sorts of things and giving me enough guidance that would not affect my own perspective of things. I certainly believe that the ability to act and think independently is crucial for any sort of success one would ever hope to achieve. I made many important decisions in my life alone, and to me, most of them were the right decisions. It saved me a lot of time, being able to form clear thinking process and act fast but not carelessly. To be independent, to take care of my own needs and to make and assume responsibility is no doubt extremely important for me. However, not forgetting about the people and the environment around me, is what makes me more special.

Self-Directedness

A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects, for me, it is the culture and surrounding environments that I have experienced that shapes my identity.

Having experienced various types education systems, I have came to a conclusion that, being a self-directed learner is yet another key factor to achieve greatness.

To me, being independent does not mean that I am self-directed. For example, someone having the nature tendency to act solely upon oneself, might not be curious to seek new opportunities and things to learn. But I am lucky to be both independent and self-directed. I always view problems as a challenge but not an impossibility, I also always motivates myself and I am determined to give my best to do well in everything. I pursue my own interests with clear goals in mind to make learning meaningful and I am always curious to try out new things. I believe that one should always take initiative and play the most active role in one's learning. Constantly evaluating myself, reflecting upon what I have done is how I keep track with myself.

Above, are few of the most important personal traits that you will need to understand about me.

Living in Shanghai, China

Shanghai,the world financial center

At the age of 6, My family went over to Shanghai. With no connections and knowledge of this new environment I started by learning to speak fluent Chinese.

I was not fluent in speaking Chinese at all, it was also especially difficult for me to understand the local's accent. Thankfully, I was studying in Local schools instead of international ones, I communicated and slowly adapted to the local community. In about a week time, I made friends with my classmates. As a kid, it was easy for me to learn a new language and be good at it. Within a few months, I was able to speak fluently with my group of friends even with a little bit of local accent. I would say that it was an advantage of being a kid, as I was not that much of a English speaking person at such a young age, I was able to adapt quickly to take Chinese as the main langauge. Next, I will share with you my lifestyle and experience of studying in a local primary school in China.
